Handmade Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU) centennial quilt associated with Southside Baptist Church in Columbia, South Carolina. The church’s name and Whaley Street address appear on a label attached to the back.
This 90” × 76” quilt features individually worked embroidered and appliquéd blocks illustrating WMU history and missions, with blue sashing and borders. Details include a gavel block marked “May 14, 1888, Richmond, Virginia,” WMU imagery, and embroidered wording about Bible study, prayer, giving, and home and foreign missions. The 1888 date refers to WMU’s founding; the quilt itself appears to commemorate the organization’s 1988 centennial.
Appears to be new, unused and unwashed, handmade condition. Some discoloration is visible on a cream-colored block; please examine the close-up photos and all other photos for the quilt’s condition. Fabric content and exact completion date are unconfirmed. You will receive the quilt shown.
Measurements: approximately 90” × 76”. Carefully packed and shipped folded.
