For sale is a beautifully crafted, two-piece vintage artisan studio set made from genuine Chinese Yixing Zisha (purple sand) clay.
Acquired directly from a deceased estate sale, this highly unusual set replicates historical Qing Dynasty ceramic wares. It consists of a meticulously hand-carved hollow cylindrical tool featuring an elegant, flowing wave/water motif, alongside its matching solid, tapered plug which seals the base perfectly.
True to high-fired, iron-rich Yixing stoneware, when the two pieces are tapped together, they produce a distinct, high-pitched metallic \"clink\" sound rather than a dull earthenware thud. The unglazed clay has developed a gorgeous, soft matte patina over decades in storage. The pieces are unmarked, indicating custom workshop or export production. The set comes housed in its original, vintage velvet- and satin-lined presentation display box, featuring a woven silk decorative border and an aged brass front flip-latch.
An exceptional, addition for collectors of unique Asian art history, studio ceramics, or cabinet curiosities.Dimensions (Approximate):
