This is a stunning, authentic piece of traditional Japanese craftmanship: a high-gloss black Aizu Lacquerware (Aizu-nuri) document and letter storage box (Bunko/Fubako). This piece is beautifully adorned with intricate, hand-painted gold Maki-e and colored lacquer motifs depicting traditional autumnal grasses and floral blooms. The box features the official red artist signature seal (Shunho) stamped in traditional seal script on the upper right corner of the lid, authenticating it as a verfied regional art piece from a respected lacquer artisan workshop. This is unused and has been carefully stored in its original packaging. The glossy black urushi lacquer surface is clean and free of the typical fine scratches or corner wear seen on loose vintage pieces. Includes the original grey protective storage gift box, factory paper labels, and paper protective overlays. Perfect for safely storing legal or letter-sized papers, stationary, calligraphy tools, fine jewelry, or as a striking, elegant centerpiece for a Mid-Century Modern or traditional Japanese-inspired interior.
