WWI Imperial German All-Metal Ersatz Bayonet - Gewehr 98 Battle Relic:
$300.00

Up for sale is a fascinating piece of Great War history: an authentic Imperial German World War I \"Ersatz\" (Emergency) All-Metal Bayonet, manufactured circa 1914-1916.As the German army rapidly expanded early in the war, traditional factories couldn\'t keep up with rifle and bayonet production. In response, German workshops created these ingenious, rugged, and simplified \"Ersatz\" weapons. Instead of using separate wooden grip scales, the entire hilt and handle of this variant were cast out of a single piece of steel/iron, featuring deeply cast diagonal grooving designed to simulate wood grain and provide a firm grip in muddy trench conditions.
