Naval Aviation Pilot (NAP), was originally created in 1924 for Chief Petty Officers from 1924-1933. It was extended to First Class Petty Officers from 1927-1933. With the demands placed on the Navy during WWII, the program was re-established in 1942 and the last class graduated in 1948. Chiefs, First and Second Class PO’s were 1942-1948 and Third Class was 1942.

It was intended to be blue on white and white on blue. However, some were made to be gold.
