WWII Era Vintage Silk Square w Message Parachute Scrap from GI in Iceland 1943: $19.99
WWII Era Vintage Silk Square w Message Parachute Scrap from GI in Iceland 1943This appears to be a parachute or flag scrap measuring approximately 8\" square with a message home from a G.I. in Iceland. The message reads \"To my darling with love, Iceland 1943\" Silk was nearly impossible to get stateside during the war as every inch was needed by the armed forces. This would have been a heartfelt gift sent back home while this soldier was preparing to invade Europe. Iceland was briefly occupied by the British, then the Americans before declaring independence from Nazi occupied Denmark in 1944. A great little piece of history with a story behind it, I\'m sure!Check Out Our Other Listings for more curiosities and oddities!!!We offer combined shipping, please contact us for an estimate before purchasing multiple items. We want everyone to be happy with their purchase; if there are any problems with your order, please contact us for assistance before leaving response.
