Shows beautiful age-appropriate patina and light dark surface rust, but zero deep pitting.Handle: Original wood handle with remnants of the authentic olive drab (OD) green military paint. Head is structurally stable on the handle.Canvas Carrier: Original M-1910 pattern carrier stamped \"SHANE MFG. CO. 1941\" with the \"U.S.\" stamp visible on the front flap. The Lift-the-Dot fastener and rear wire belt hooks are fully functional.Historical Context: Explain that matching a 1944 dated tool with a 1941 dated carrier is historically accurate, as equipment from different production years was regularly issued together to GIs in the field.
