William Walker Historic Diver ; Winchester Cathedral Diving Photograph Framed Large framed photographic print depicting William Walker (1869–1918), the famous diver credited with helping save Winchester Cathedral, together with members of a diving/work crew and period diving equipment.Walker carried out the extraordinary underwater underpinning work at Winchester Cathedral between 1906 and 1911, working in flooded trenches beneath the building\'s foundations. His work helped stabilise the Cathedral and save it from collapse. The original image is an early 20th-century historical photograph associated with William Walker and the era of the Winchester Cathedral works... A fascinating piece for collectors of historic diving equipment, Winchester Cathedral memorabilia, engineering/social history or unusual historical photography.Framed and ready to display.Please note: I have not been able to establish the date at which this particular photographic print was produced. It appears to be on photographic paper and is presented in a later frame, but I am therefore not selling it as an original c.1906–11 photographic print.Any further information regarding the photograph or its production would be very welcome.Condition:Good vintage/pre-owned condition with some age-related wear to the frame/presentation, particularly to the back of frame.
