The J “Étoile” No. 74 is documented in the original Junghans 1906 catalogue as:
“Mouvement J ‘Étoile’ N° 74. 15 jours sonnerie américain…”
The Junghans historical archive preserves the 1906 catalogue documentation for these movements.
IMPORTANT:The movement in this clock is an early J “Étoile” No. 74 configuration with solid/full polished plates. It should not be confused with later, modernized Junghans movements that subsequently carried the No. 74 designation.

The clock has substantial genuine age-related wear and several losses to the wooden case.
Missing decorative elements include:
• The central top finial/crest is missing. The original mounting location is still visible.• A section of the upper decorative trim is missing.• The central lower decorative ornament/figure is missing. The mounting hole/opening remains visible.
The case also has numerous scratches, scuffs, abrasions, worn edges, areas of finish loss and other signs of age and use.
The dial has age-related discoloration and surface marks.
The case would benefit from professional restoration or careful conservation. The missing decorative elements could potentially be recreated or replaced by an experienced restorer.
The movement is currently running and the striking mechanism is operating, as demonstrated in the video. However, the clock has not undergone a professional service by us, so no guarantee is made regarding long-term accuracy, power reserve or future running performance.HISTORICAL NOTE
The Junghans historical archive contains a 1906 catalogue documenting the J “Étoile” No. 74 movement. This provides a useful historical reference for the movement in this clock.
The date is therefore given as APPROXIMATELY CIRCA 1906 rather than claiming an exact manufacturing year.
