c1880s Tin Police Lantern w/ Bullseye Lens, Blackout Slide - Christmas Tree Lamp: $89.99
The antique lantern is a classicLate Victorian Police Dark Lantern dating roughly between 1885 and 1900. The combination of a single-tube kerosene fount and a top-rotated internal shroud, solidifies it as a tactical tool from the peak era of nighttime foot patrols. Right before battery-operated flashlights began replacing the lanterns in the early 20th century. The lantern would make a wonderful Christmas tree topper. It is in amazing condition, but appears to be missing the small closure on the left of the opening. By rotating the fluted vent hood, the lantern lens could be changed to a red glow, orblack out the light. The red glass is present, but the dark blackout glass is missing. The lantern maintains the original historic patina and it is an amazing piece of history.
