Rare circa 1930 sideshow ephemera lot featuring the celebrated performer Rose Foster, famously known on the circuit as \"Miss Rosina.\" This remarkable two-piece historical lot includes both her original four-page promotional biography and a matching standalone portrait photograph.
Rose Foster (1884–1975) was a world-renowned British-born sideshow personality who spent eight seasons touring with the legendary Barnum & Bailey circus. Celebrated for her exceptionally warm and cheerful demeanor, she astounded Edwardian audiences across Europe and North America with her ability to write and knit using her toes.
The first piece in this lot is the original 4-page souvenir pitch booklet titled \"The Life of Rose Foster.\" These booklets were printed in limited quantities and sold directly by the performer to spectators during exhibition tours to supplement her income. The paper text remains clean and completely legible, showing only typical light handling wear and dog-earing at the corners.
The second piece is an exceptional standalone studio photograph measuring 3-5/16 by 5-5/16 inches. Printed on heavy cardstock with no reverse postcard markings, this intermediate cabinet-style portrait was specifically produced as a premium companion piece for the booklet. It features a beautiful, crisp image of a smiling Miss Rose Foster with her name clearly printed across the bottom margin. The photograph is in excellent condition, retaining wonderful contrast and clarity.
This is a fantastic opportunity for collectors of authentic vintage circus history, Barnum & Bailey memorabilia, or early human curiosity ephemera to add a complete, matching narrative set to their archive.
