Description
Original antique 1918 invoice from The Gordon Piano Company (Gordon & Son) of New York, manufacturers of pianos and player pianos, featuring a bold decorative letterhead and company crest. Dated July 23, 1918, this document records the sale of a mahogany player piano (Style 88/50) to a buyer in Fredonia, New York, totaling $248.98, including a noted 3% war tax on player action—a great World War I-era detail.
Printed on large-format paper with clean typography, ornate branding, and period business layout, this piece captures early 20th-century American commerce, music culture, and wartime taxation in a single document. The Gordon Piano Company, established in 1845, was part of the booming player piano industry of the era, making this a desirable piece for collectors of music history, New York ephemera, or antique business documents.
A striking and display-worthy example of early player piano history and WWI-era business ephemera.
