1971 Maryland License Plates – Matching Pair PN 8023 – 1975 Expiration – Vintage Blue & White Automobile Tags
Offered for sale is a matching pair of vintage Maryland automobile license plates, both displaying registration number PN 8023.
These attractive plates feature Maryland\'s classic blue background with embossed white registration characters, a white perimeter border, and MARYLAND displayed prominently along the bottom.
Both plates retain their 1975 expiration stickers in the lower-right corners, while the embossed 71 markings identify the original 1971 base plate design.
The matching registration numbers, attractive blue-and-white color combination, and surviving registration stickers make this pair a wonderful addition to collections of vintage license plates, Maryland memorabilia, automobilia, and classic automotive displays.
Maryland introduced this blue-and-white license plate design in 1971, and the style continued in use through 1975.
The plates feature embossed white registration characters against a rich blue background, a design associated with Maryland automobiles during the early-to-mid 1970s.
Instead of issuing an entirely new set of metal plates annually, Maryland used expiration stickers to extend the registration period.
This matching pair preserves the original 1971 base plate design along with 1975 expiration stickers, illustrating that renewal system.
Today, these plates offer collectors an authentic visual connection to Maryland\'s automotive history during the 1970s.
