Vintage Maryland SOS Personalized License Plates – Matching Pair – Blue and White – 1971 / 1975
Offered for sale is a matching pair of vintage Maryland personalized license plates featuring the distinctive three-letter registration SOS.
These attractive plates feature a rich blue background with raised white lettering, a white perimeter border, and MARYLAND embossed along the bottom. Both plates display 71 in the lower-left corner and a 75 expiration marking in the lower-right corner.
The short, memorable SOS registration gives this matching pair considerable visual appeal and makes it an interesting addition to collections of vintage vanity license plates, Maryland automobilia, transportation history, and decorative automotive memorabilia.
Maryland has a long history of issuing personalized vehicle registration plates, allowing motorists to display distinctive combinations of letters and numbers rather than standard registration sequences.
The blue-and-white Maryland plate design represents an earlier era of the state\'s automobile registration history.
This matching pair displays the personalized registration SOS, a familiar three-letter combination commonly recognized as an international distress signal.
The plates carry a 1971 marking and a 1975 expiration designation, reflecting their period design and registration history.
Matching personalized plates are especially attractive to collectors because they preserve a complete front-and-rear registration set.
