Antique German Griesbaum / UKA Singing Bird Cage - Restored - See Description : $1950.00
A Little About Me — The RestoratorI\'ve worked in precision manufacturing for over 20 years as a CNC machinist. My father shared his love of these remarkable singing bird automata with me, and I\'ve come to really enjoy bringing them back to life for many more generations to enjoy.Originally from Germany, I am especially proud to be restoring these beautiful German pieces and preserving a small part of their history. This cage is a beautiful example of a mid production Karl Griesbaum singing bird cage. This cage I was able to clean up the origonal pretty yellow and black bird. The floor is the origonal flocking, as well as the paint on the cage. The entire rest of the cage has been completely gone over.Based on my research, I believe this cage was likely manufactured by Karl Griesbaum in 1958 for resale through a company identified by the UKA Germany marking. Although the cage does not bear the usual Karl Griesbaum marking, its construction and characteristics support this attribution. The Cage and Mechanism:All exposed brass has been polished and lacquered to preserve its current luster and protect the finish for years to come. The mechanism has been thoroughly gone through. The bellows have been entirely rebuilt, and the mainspring has been cleaned and re-greased. The cam timings have been carefully adjusted to provide optimal running conditions. This cage also has a very nice pause time.A Piece to Enjoy for GenerationsWhether you\'re an experienced collector of automata, looking for a beautiful addition to a display, or searching for a truly unique gift, I believe this cage is a wonderful piece to own and enjoy.I stand 100% behind my restorations and will warranty any issue resulting from the restoration of the cage. With proper care, these remarkable singing bird automata can continue to be enjoyed for generations to have a large collection of Griesbaum, Bontems, and Reuge cages of many different styles and varieties. If there is a certain cage you are looking for, or want to do a custom cage, please reach out with any questions or concerns!
