A collection of twenty stories introducing the inhabitants of the forest through imaginative accounts of their lives and adventures. Among the characters are red squirrels, woodpeckers, owls, rabbits, bats, and other woodland creatures.
Gordon's black-and-white illustrations accompany the stories, while the publisher's binding features an unusually harmonious design in gold, red, and green. The decorative treatment continues onto the spine, making this an especially appealing volume for shelf display.
