Up for sale is a rare, premium antique Western Americana stereoview card from "The Johnson Co's Stereoscopic Views" series out of Salt Lake City, Utah.
This historic card is titled "Saltair Beach—Utah" and captures an incredible wide-angle, real photographic view of the original Saltair Resort Pavilion. The image beautifully details the crowds of 19th-century bathers floating in the Great Salt Lake alongside the spectacular Moorish-dome palace built entirely over the water.
First opened in 1893, this iconic architectural marvel was a premier destination before the original structure completely burned to the ground in 1925. A centerpiece addition for collectors of early Utah history, beach/amusement park Americana, and late-19th-century social culture.
CONDITION:
The card is in excellent antique condition. The real photo prints remain incredibly sharp and clear with rich sepia tones and beautiful contrast. The thick cardstock mount is fully intact and structurally sound with clean borders, exhibiting only minor, expected edge wear and the natural age curvature typical of late 19th-century stereographs. Note the clean, original factory-trimmed inner paper seams where the two separate photos were aligned at production—an excellent indicator of its authentic turn-of-the-century manufacturing process.
