LUSTROUS STIBNITE WITH DOLOMITE – QINGLONG MINE, CHINA
An impressive cabinet-size Stibnite with Dolomite specimen from the renowned Qinglong Mine in Guizhou Province, China.
This substantial collector specimen features numerous elongated metallic Stibnite blades forming a dense, three-dimensional cluster. Closely packed parallel groups intersect with crystals growing at different angles, producing an architectural and highly sculptural display.
Fine lengthwise striations run across the Stibnite crystals, catching the light and creating bright silver-grey reflections against darker steel-coloured faces. The appearance changes considerably as the specimen is viewed from different directions.
Pale crystalline Dolomite provides excellent contrast across part of the display face and between the metallic blades. Its lighter colour and softer texture help define the Stibnite crystal structure and give the specimen additional depth and character.
Stibnite is an antimony sulphide mineral with the chemical formula Sb₂S₃. Material from the Qinglong Mine is internationally collected for its lustrous metallic surfaces and distinctive elongated, bladed crystal formations.
