Very good condition.
Vintage United States Air Force officer service dress uniform jacket belonging to a Colonel with the surname THURMAN.
This is an impressive, largely intact named uniform featuring Colonel eagle rank insignia, USAF Command Pilot wings, an extensive Vietnam-era ribbon rack, U.S. collar insignia, shoulder insignia and additional Air Force specialty/qualification badge.
Research suggests this uniform may be attributable to William E. Thurman, who later attained the rank of Lieutenant General in the United States Air Force. Lt. Gen. Thurman was a Command Pilot, Vietnam veteran and F-105 pilot who flew 56 combat missions and later held important aircraft development and acquisition positions.
Important: The William E. Thurman attribution has not been conclusively documented, so the uniform is being sold as a named “THURMAN” USAF Colonel uniform rather than as definitively belonging to Lt. Gen. Thurman.
Coat is marked 40S with military stock number 8405-805-2796.
All ribbons, insignia and badges shown are included and will remain with the uniform. Vintage condition with normal age/storage wear. Please examine photographs carefully for condition and exact configuration.
