⭐ RESEARCHED OFFICER HISTORY / CONTEXT:

This cap is named inside to Colonel Robert Lipscomb Ramsey, United States Air Force.

Research shows that Robert Lipscomb Ramsey was a documented career U.S. Air Force officer. His exact name appears in official U.S. Congressional Record Air Force officer listings from the late 1940s and early 1950s, which supports the identity shown on the original interior name card.

Additional research indicates that Col. Ramsey retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1968 after approximately 26 years of service. His career therefore spanned from the World War II era through the Korean War era and into the Vietnam War era. His final Air Force assignment was reportedly at the Pentagon as Director of the Office of Military Sales for Mutual Assistance.

After his Air Force retirement, Col. Ramsey worked with Bell Helicopter Textron in international sales, connecting his post-military career to aviation and foreign military sales.

Research also indicates that Ramsey may have been credited with the Distinguished Flying Cross with one oak leaf cluster and the Air Medal with four oak leaf clusters. No medals, award paperwork, photographs, or service records are included with this listing, so those details are included only as researched historical context.

This is a strong named-officer piece connected to a documented career Air Force Colonel, with potential WWII-era aviation and Pentagon military-sales significance.

✅ CONDITION:

Excellent vintage condition overall. The cap retains a strong shape and presents beautifully. The interior lining remains intact with the Berkshire De Luxe branding clearly visible. The leather sweatband is present and securely attached. The silver bullion visor embroidery has attractive vintage patina and displays very well with no major unraveling visible.
